The Founder

Lauren Gay

Before law school, I spent nearly two decades in K-12 classrooms. I taught Special Education, ESOL, English, Family and Consumer Sciences, and served as a writing resource teacher. I earned my MEd in Educational Leadership from Stetson University. I helped turn a D-rated school into a B. I won five Disney Teacheriffic Awards. I knew a lot about how people learn.

And then I started law school, and I was humbled.

Despite everything I knew about learning and memory, I was drowning in outlines like everyone else. The traditional approach was not working for me. I have ADHD, and I learn through audio and movement. I always have. So I did what felt natural: I started setting black letter law to music.

It worked. I graduated cum laude from Ole Miss Law in December 2025.

I could not stop thinking about every other student sitting in the library with a highlighter, trying to force rules in through sheer repetition, when there is a better way for so many of them. So I built it into a product.

Law Bop is what happens when a career educator with ADHD goes to law school and refuses to accept that there is only one way to learn. I built the tool I wished existed. Now I am sharing it with you.

Hear It From Me

Why Music?

Auditory learning is one of the most powerful memory tools humans have. Music adds rhythm, rhyme, and emotion to information, which means your brain encodes it differently than a bulleted outline. You have been memorizing song lyrics your entire life without trying. Law Bop puts that same mechanism to work for black letter law.

This is not a replacement for a full bar prep course. It is the thing you listen to on your commute, at the gym, while you cook dinner. It is the part of your study routine that does not feel like studying. And when you sit down to write that essay, the rule is already there.

What Law Bop Is

Original songs across every MBE and MEE subject. Black letter law set to music, with lyrics you can follow along. Built by a lawyer, for bar takers, using the exact method that got her through law school. New songs added regularly.

Law Bop is educational only. It is not legal advice, and it is not affiliated with the NCBE. But it might be the most fun you have ever had studying for the bar exam.
